    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker. May I also join my colleagues in sending my condolences and those of my constituents of Ugunja to the family, friends and relatives of Sen. Ben. Oluoch Okello and the people of Migori County as a whole. I happen to have been with Ben on Thursday last week, when I visited him at MP Shah Hospital. You could see a fighting spirit in him. Ben was obviously very ill but you could see he was fighting for survival. The medics at the MP Shah Hospital did their best under the circumstances to try and prolong Ben’s life for some days. I knew Ben Oluoch Okello much earlier, even before he became a senator, during his time at Royal Media Services. Just as my colleague Hon. Nyikal has said, Ben was instrumental in making my constituents know me; otherwise I would not have had the chance to be known and be elected as the first Member of Parliament of my constituency. Ben was a very lovable character, a very peaceful character. He was exceedingly non-controversial. That is why, I believe, most Members here do not know him. He was exceedingly non-controversial but very passionate about his work, initially at the radio station and later in the Senate. So, I wish to join the people of Migori in mourning the passing on of this very great son of the soil. A lot has been said about cancer. As a House, I remember, we had a chance to pass a Motion in the last Parliament, which was moved by Hon. Gladys Wanga. I am not sure what the status of that Motion is as we speak. Something needs to be done to proactively deal with the matter of cancer. It is very unfortunate that that part of Nyanza, the southern part of Nyanza, has lost two senators successively. Remember we lost Sen. Kajwang’ in the neighbouring Homa Bay County in the last Parliament and now we have lost Sen. Ben Oluoch Okello in Migori.
