    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to support this Motion. There is consensus across the board that the resources that this House allocates to county governments are not being utilised properly and, therefore, those resources are not benefiting the common man. I agree because, as most of my colleagues have already highlighted, if you walk across the counties, you will probably notice projects that are funded by the national Government and those which are funded by resources allocated to our constituencies through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF). You will hardly see serious projects being undertaken by the county governments. We want to be blunt and say that our counties must pull up their socks in terms of the way they are utilising public resources. The county governments are also supposed to generate their own resources. From the records, it is very clear that a few counties are making efforts in this direction. The county governments will not be sustainable in the long run if they will not be able to continuously grow their own revenues. I would like to urge the Senate to be vicious in terms of how they are going to supervise the counties.
