  • 6 May 2021 in National Assembly: I, Hon. Abdi Mude Ibrahim, Member of Parliament for Lafey Constituency, I vote yes. view
  • 3 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to support this Motion. I think it has been the talk of the day that this House was almost disbanded on grounds of gender issues. Unfortunately, when we are discussing such sensitive issues, I expect the female leaders to be here, but I can just see two of them. Most of them seem to be out. view
  • 3 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: That does not mean that my sister at the back there…I am trying to say that we expect them to aggressively push this agenda more than men. Last time, I remember when we were discussing these issues, their number in the House was low. I will urge them to ensure that they are there to push for their agenda. When we are talking about gender, it does imply that we are talking about female empowerment, but both the boy child and the girl child to be treated equally. That said, I think the disparity is clear and there is need ... view
  • 3 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I think it is important to protect me. My assumption is that when we are raising points of order, a Member is expected to give us the point of order he is rising on, so that we are cognizant of the issue the Member is rising on. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I am not responding to the Member. view
  • 3 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Well guided. Of course, there will be adequate civic education on the ground and people will be conversant with the content of the document and those with opposing views will come to the field and advise us otherwise. Otherwise, I will sincerely support this position and a position where we will create a conducive environment where our ladies can competitively play political roles. Politics and development are intertwined and we cannot separate them. We can only give them conducive environment, allowing and providing them with all the required incentives. I will urge non-State actors like NGOs to ensure that they ... view
  • 3 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: It is important that when this stranger who comes from the tangatanga squad is out of order, it is only fair that you say he is out of order. Otherwise, I strongly support this position and no doubt, I support the BBI. I am confident that the BBI strongly supports the girl child education. There is no group of people who are called pastoralists. We are all pastoralists. We support the BBI… view
  • 3 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
  • 22 Sep 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to ask the Teachers Service Commission the following Question: (i) Why has the Teachers Service Commission Office taken inordinately long to establish a Sub-county office in Lafey? (ii) When will the Commission establish the Lafey Sub-county office and have it staffed with requisite personnel to facilitate efficient administration of teachers’ services in the area? Thank you. view
  • 16 Jun 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Pursuant to provisions of Standing Order No.44(2)(c), I wish to request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing regarding the status of the improvement of Elwak-Fino Road in Lafey Constituency to bitumen standards. An elaborate and well-maintained road network is an essential infrastructural establishment for facilitating access to social amenities, spurring socio-economic development and opening up regions for investments. The Elwak-Fino Road is a major highway serving the north eastern part of the country. However, the road is in deplorable state, yet in the Budget Estimate ... view
  • 16 Jun 2020 in National Assembly: Year 2017/2018, this honourable House appropriated funds for improvement of the said road to bitumen standards. It is against this backdrop that I seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing on the following: (i) What is that status of the Elwak-Fino Road considering that the House did appropriate funds for its construction in the Fiscal Year 2017/2018 and the tender advertised thereafter? (ii) What plans have the Ministry put in place to ensure that the construction of the said road commences as soon as possible considering that the Mandera-Fino Road is ... view
