I rise Pursuant to Standing Order No 44 (2) (c ) to make a Statement request from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Health, regarding the creative and preventive measures practised in the health care field, and standards of health generally. The health care situation in this country appears to have focused primarily on curative measures, at the expense of working to prevent occurrence of those ailments in the first place. I am interested in understanding the effectiveness of medical care in this country, that is why I am asking for statistics; how do we measure effectiveness? It is through people who have ailments, either they recover or continue to ail or they die. That is the bottom line of medical care.
