  • 5 Dec 2018 in National Assembly: The cohort issue has been talked about by my colleagues and it is very important. However, there are a number of youths who have not been paid simply because their money was stolen. It was used to pay for the air that was supplied, unfortunately. So, once this restructuring is done, we want the youths in the constituencies to be paid their money. I support the Bill. It is the best way to go. view
  • 5 Dec 2018 in National Assembly: The next issue that we should hear about the NYS should not be about embezzlement or theft. It should be about youths having been empowered, using their skills to empower themselves and their families. view

  • 14 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. From the word go, I go with the option of dropping the Bill. We will be wasting this House’s time because we will have to go through the First, Second and Third Readings. As it has been said by the Leader of the Minority Party, the same Bill is in the Senate. If the Private Member has issues with that Bill, he can still fill in at that particular time so that we only talk about his amendments or concerns as a stakeholder. This Bill specifically affects counties. Sometime back, we talked about why the ... view
  • 7 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. First and foremost, Kenya is part of the global and international circle. I want to congratulate one lady who was a refugee from Dadaab who has made it to the congress in the United States of America. Kenya should be proud of that. I want to congratulate Ilhan Omar. view
  • 17 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. From the outset, I want to add my voice in support of the Motion seeking to declare youth unemployment a national disaster. Government after Government, this issue of youth unemployment has been up and down. Nevertheless, we have never had a perfect solution for this problem. As I support this Motion, I want to go further and urge the Government to pay a stipend to any youth who has finished college or university until they get employment. This will encourage the Government to ensure that the youths are absorbed in employment. How do we explain ... view

  • 30 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. The clause says that the Central Bank may prescribe in regulations, conditions on deposits or withdrawals by customers in banks and financial institutions. To me, this is ambiguous. What are these regulations and conditions? Are we giving the Central Bank a blanket cheque to decide whatever they want to do to Kenyans? The Mover has said that Kenyans have told them that they are asked unnecessary questions, filling in forms and many things by banks. Where are those regulations and conditions for us to go through them so that we know whether they are ... view
  • 27 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I think the idea of having sports academies in all constituencies is noble as it affects the youth. I have, in a number of occasions, spoken about engaging the youth in employment, whether formal or informal. However, sports activity is something that resonates well with the youth in all constituencies. I remember sometimes back the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Social Services was supposed to build stadiums in each of the 47 counties. I am sure that target has not yet been achieved. It will be a tall order for them to actualise sports complexes ... view
