  • 9 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: We should also know that, apart from women, we have other groups that are also of interest. We have the youth and we have people living with disability. Reducing this discussion to women may cause us to deviate from the core objectives of this amendment. I support this Bill, one, because it improves the coordination of activities within the interest groups. As I look at it, it brings all these groups under one roof and one coordination. Matters of coordination…. view
  • 9 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you for that protection, Hon. Deputy Speaker. This Bill improves the aspects of coordination within these interest groups. Two, it increases the efficiency within these groups. Matters to do with the youth will be handled; matters to do with women will be handled; matters to do with the children will be handled, and matters to do with people living with disability will be handled under one roof. Lastly, it reduces unnecessary expenditures. One, the number of commissioners manning these commissions will be reduced. Two, money meant for recurrent expenditures and other overheads will be saved and then, maybe, diverted ... view
  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I equally rise to support this amendment by Hon. Florence Mutua. First, this amendment will stop party hopping by politicians in different political parties and encourage competition within political parties. Many politicians will go out and compete. Those who win will be elected, those who compete and present themselves well will be nominated. It will also enable political parties to do thorough vetting after elections. We in the Amani National Congress (ANC) have some Members who have been nominated by our party to this House like my good friend Hon. Osotsi, but after reaching ... view
  • 23 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I also join my colleagues in supporting the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service Bill, 2020. It is a Bill that seeks to regulate matters of blood donation and transfusion. The Bill also creates an authority within the Ministry or in the Republic of Kenya that will really manage matters of blood transfusion and donation. view
  • 23 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: The Bill says that it will have a board of management and a budget which creates some autonomy in its financial management. view
  • 23 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: Kenyans donate blood for free. I agree with my colleagues that blood is donated, transported, kept and administered to patients. However, we need to allow and amend part of the responsibility of the board to ensure that the extra logistical costs that are incurred, from donation, to storage, to hospital and to transfusion, are catered for. In this country, the Ministry of Health and the Government of Kenya supply condoms free to even the remotest areas in this country. It will not be asking too much to ask this board to take care of these costs: blood bags and blood ... view
  • 23 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: We complain about not having enough units of blood because the people who mobilise for the transfusion are placed in cities. You will find a camp in Kakamega and somebody from Khwisero cannot travel to Kakamega to donate blood. We should decentralise and create more The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 23 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: regional offices up from six to 47 and create satellite offices in our sub-counties so that we can mobilise as many Kenyans as possible to donate blood. view
  • 23 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, you will agree with me that sometimes we donate blood within cities and half of it, we are told, is bad, contaminated or infected, but if we want pure quality blood, we should use our villages and we will have this blood in our blood banks. view
  • 23 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: Lastly, we need to provide more resources to this unit to create more of these centres, to procure more equipment and to ensure it employs more staff. We saw in the Report that the department is really understaffed. So, without enough resources to this unit, we will not attain the objective. view
