  • 11 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for the opportunity. I rise to support the Bill. The Bill has very good intentions. It is a game changer in terms of economic development. Production of energy relies on natural resources. The only thing that needs to be done is implementation and being proactive in issues of the environment. We cannot generate electricity through hydroelectric power, wind or coal if we do not take our environment seriously. Most of our rivers are dry simply because we do not plant trees. We could also come up with policies whereby it becomes mandatory for towns ... view
  • 21 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity. I wish to contribute in support of the Motion. Like any other worker, one needs to be motivated. The police officer needs very good insurance cover for their safety. A police officer needs a very good salary and proper housing. Actually, I visited an Administration Police (A) camp in my constituency, and I was surprised until it forced me to look for some funds. This is because three families were sharing one room. We should even start from Parliament, which most of the Members can see. Just go to ... view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I wish to contribute to the Bill with full support. I have gone through it and it has a very good intent. True, there is a problem in Nairobi concerning transport, which if not well managed, will bring an economical setback. We cannot decongest Nairobi without mentioning Kiambu, Kajiado and Machakos. The only county which brought suspicion is Murang’a. From my knowledge, Murang’a is almost 70 kilometres away from Nairobi. Nakuru is 150 kilometres away. The Bill is good because without a good transport system, even if you have a sick person, there is no ... view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to contribute on the same. Actually, game rangers are very notorious, including to my constituents. They invade and harass even the villagers. This should stop. Hon. Members, we have a lot of dignity. There is something which surprised me in my constituency. A former Member of Parliament is operating a terror gang called TiachaHomeboys. I am not very happy with him. Last week when I was with my party leader, he came with youths. I wish the Inspector-General of Police could look into that because leadership cannot be taken by force. I ... view
  • 27 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I take this opportunity to support the Bill. For any country to be developed, roads are key. They are a pillar for any economic development. Through roads, we can take our produce to markets and reach hospitals. So, they are key. The only thing which has to be done, Hon. Chairman, is the application of The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 27 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: equity in roadwork distribution. I can confirm without fear of contradiction serikali ya nusumkate did a lot of work in terms of roads. Even the road designs that are currently being implemented were engineered during the time of that regime. Kwa hivyo, hongera kwako . The other thing is on contractors. The Chinese contractors are doing a very good job, and we appreciate. However, in Kasipul, there is one contractor who is doing a project under the African Development Bank (ADB). We need the Chairman to visit that area to ascertain the type of work being done. Even when it ... view
  • 1 Mar 2017 in National Assembly: Hon speaker, I beg to lay the following Paper on the Table of the House: Report of the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare on its consideration of the Betting, Lotteries and Gaming (Amendment) Bill, 2016. view
  • 16 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Just like it happened last week, we have not met all the stakeholders who are important when it comes to this Bill. Officers from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) appeared before us, but unfortunately, the Commissioner-General did not come. The two Commissioners who were sent to appear before us did not have a clue on the Bill that is before the House. So, we sent them back to ask the Commissioner-General to appear before us in person next week on Tuesday, together with the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for the National Treasury. view
  • 16 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Today, we met some of the stakeholders on this issue. I request that because of the weighty issues that are contained in the Bill, we be given time, so that we can interrogate the The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 16 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: matter properly and give a report to the House that can guide it in debating the Bill. Without that, we will not be doing justice to the Bill, which has attracted a lot of attention and talk out there. view
