  • 10 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Ahsante sana, Bw.
  • 3 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Asante, Bi.

  • 13 Sep 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I stand here to make a Personal Statement, pursuant to Standing Order No.76. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wish to, firstly, join the people of Kenya and Tana River County in mourning the loss of human lives and loss of property in Tana Delta District, and also to condemn the skirmishes and killings between the Orma and the Pokomo communities in Tana River County. I strongly urge them to stop the clashes and resort to negotiations towards a permanent peaceful solution to the issues as earlier agreed between me and the elders of both communities; an ... view
  • 13 Sep 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, in conclusion, I want to confirm to this House that the allegations leveled against me are malicious, intimidating, inflammatory and misdirected. I am a polished, trained and experienced peacekeeper and will remain committed to pursuing peace in Tana River. Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. view

  • 5 Sep 2012 in National Assembly: (a) I am not aware that there is any deliberate falsification of prices and classification of raw hides as rejects so as to attract less duty when exported. This is because:- (i) My Ministry does not step prices for the raw hides and skins. The function of pricing of the commodity both locally and internationally is governed by the market forces. (ii) My Ministry has qualified officers who ensure that all hides, skins and leather for export are graded, while the loading and sealing of the containers is undertaken by the Kenya Revenue Authority. In order to ensure total compliance, ... view
  • 5 Sep 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I do not believe in what the Member has talked about. Unless he has a specific case that implicates the person responsible for the classification, then it is not proper for us to start speculating that probably there is any falsification in the process of classification of the product. Therefore, I do not find it necessary even to pursue it further in trying to amend the law to provide what hon. Kathuri has talked about. If you look at my response in part “b” where I have tabled the list of the people responsible for all this, ... view
