  • 16 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I know the Minister has travelled. In countries where people make a decision to develop, it is a conscious decision to move forward. Development grows and all these nice things do not come by accident. These things come because people plan for them. People make a conscious decision that, "we are going to acquire new status". To do so, there will be a bit of pain. After all, there is no gain without pain. What does the pain constitute? It means obeying rules, a bit more taxation so that we achieve what it is that is ... view
  • 16 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. As I suppose it would be in order to clarify. You have referred to him as a Minister. Does he have a new status I am not aware of? view

  • 3 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am concerned that due to defiance of your ruling you run the risk of allowing this disorder to prevail in this House. I think you must insist that Mr. Ethuro withdraws and apologises for what he said. view

Member to incite the people who live around Del Monte, particularly the people of Juja where the bulk of this land is, to invade land and sub-divide it, merely because he thinks that the size of the land is bigger than what has been given? Those are who asking the Questions, including hon. C. Kilonzo, know that Del Monte has leased land from people, including in areas outside Central Province in Ukambani. I, therefore, do not think that it is in order to incite people. Is it in order for the Member to ... view

  • 26 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Lands the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware that a piece of land, L.R. 4918/8, within Thika Municipality was acquired by the Council in November, 1971 for a mortgage housing scheme? (b) Is the Minister further aware that sometime in 2007, some councillors from the Municipal Council illegally subdivided the said land without the approval of the full Council? (c) In view of the seriousness of this matter, what action has the Minister taken to guard public interest by ensuring that this piece of land ... view
  • 26 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wish to thank the Assistant Minister for that very clear and short response. However, I wish to seek further clarification. Having said that nobody has encroached on the piece of land and that it is legally held in trust for the people of Thika, I wish to get confirmation from the Assistant Minister. Does it mean that he has taken note and he will not allow any transaction to occur on this particular piece of land in future? view
