  • 23 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to add to the voice of my other colleagues. I stand here to support this Bill on warehouse receipt system. That is through the pre-harvest, harvest and post-harvest loses. Therefore, it directly impacts negatively on food and nutrition, security and livelihoods of our people. I come from Uasin Gishu County that is referred to as a food basket alongside Trans Nzoia County. Most of ... view

  • 11 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Sorry for that fault. On my behalf and that of the people of Turbo, I join my colleagues in condoling with the families which lost loved ones. It is a matter of national concern that we have lost many lives. It is unfortunate that this has been going on for a long time. This is because of lack of self- discipline on the side of the drivers. Surely, most of the issues can be addressed. We can stop over-speeding and overlapping. We can stop the use of phones when driving. view

  • 11 Oct 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I want to thank you. I have been waiting for so long. I did not know the machine had a problem. Maybe, I should take this opportunity to thank you for giving me this opportunity. I also want to thank the Member for Tinderet for bringing this Motion which is very important. I come from Turbo, a place where farmers have embraced sugar-cane farming as a cash crop. I feel for those farmers because despite the fact that they have embraced sugar-cane as a cash crop, they have actually embraced poverty through non-payment and a myriad ... view
  • 11 Oct 2017 in National Assembly: are 80 per cent of the farmers - there is a lot of pilferage because the farmers are not able to follow their cane to the destination or to the weighbridge. So, alongside the Motion that the Member has brought today, I would request that they also look at it seriously as a Committee. They should form a taskforce so that they can look at the problems that face the sugar industry holistically and address them for the benefit of the farmer. Paying the farmer is a different issue, but making the farmer benefit from production of cane is the ... view
