  • 2 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we know that the Assistant Minister is somewhere in the Lobby. Surely, he should have gone down to get him. He is just in the Lobby. view
  • 2 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, really, I am saying that they have the responsibility. The other Assistant Minister is just outside here. If he was responsible, he should have gone to get that Assistant Minister to come and answer the Question. The Assistant Minister is around. view
  • 2 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, yesterday our Shadow Minister asked for a Ministerial Statement on the issue of a Cabinet Minister storming a police station. He further demanded that the Minister be arrested and charged promptly because that is what would have happened to an ordinary citizen. Could we get the latest information on that? view
  • 25 Jul 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I will be very brief and, maybe, allow somebody else to say something. I stand to support this Vote, and say that I wish we could give this Ministry a lot more money, because I know a lot of money is needed because of the various roads in the country that need to be done. It is the responsibility of the Minister to see whether she is satisfied with the answer she got from the Judiciary. Is the Minister really satisfied with the answer that she got from the Judiciary? Does she not think that she needs to delve further, if that is the only reason? view
  • 18 Jul 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I would like to join my colleagues in complimenting the Minister and his team of officers for the way in which they have worked to implement this free primary education. I think they have done a magnificent job, and we need to say how grateful we are. Having said that, there is a lot more to be done. The area which, really, concerns me is management of education in the districts. I go round the schools in my constituency and check the visitors' books. Not a single officer from the Ministry of Education ... view
  • 18 Jul 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I thought the hon. Member had been in the House long enough to appreciate that. The issue of staffing of teachers has been mentioned. I think it, certainly, needs to be looked into. This is because you will find that teachers are not properly housed, in some cases. Some of them are housed in poor structures. As a result, they are not able to do their work properly. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the issue of free primary education, again, has been stated. I would also like to re-state that there is a ... view
