  • 22 Apr 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to speak to this Bill, which I support. I wish to reiterate the fact that some of the proposals by the Treasury are quite ridiculous. As representatives of the people, we need to cushion our people from some of the proposals like increment of VAT on fertilisers, animal feeds and all those things that are consumed daily by the wananchi . I am glad that our Committee was able to settle and cushion Kenyans by reducing the rate of VAT on most of the goods that are consumed daily from ... view

  • 4 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Hon. Speaker, I rise pursuant to Standing Order 43 to make a Statement on the International Women’s Day. On 8th March every year, the world marks the International Women's Day, which is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while also marking a call to action for acceleration of gender equality. • 4 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: together with our partners amongst them the Parliament of Kenya, the Government of Kenya and other non-state actors. This year, the Women’s Day theme is “Each for Equal”, which is drawn from a notion of collective individualism. I take this opportunity to urge all Members of Parliament to reaffirm the spirit of the Beijing Conference with renewed commitment and pledge for greater efforts towards promotion of gender equality in all spheres of life and, more specifically, by enacting laws that promote and advocate for gender equality. I wish to emphasise that gender balance is not a women's issue. It is ... view

  • 10 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Moi was the only President I ever knew having been born in that era. Moi was that President who visited schools. He used to listen to people in his meet-the-people-tours. He listened to the voters and not to other people. view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: I loved Moi for the YK92. He mentored a lot of youths through it and stood out as a president. He would come to our school, where we had a special Nyayo Choir. We had Nyayo parties every closing day because he would send money to our school. He passed through our school and encountered a girl who had a skin disorder, who he had treated. view

  • 24 Jul 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. My Question goes to the Cabinet Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning: (i) Is the Ministry taking any steps to bring to an end the longstanding conflict surrounding South Ngariama17,000 hectares of land in Mwea Subcounty, Kirinyaga County, which led to clashes that resulted in the killing of four persons on 26thMarch 2019, and which has continued to cause rising tension among residents?
