  • 5 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, it is my humble submission that I wish to support the Motion and I believe that Kenyans should actually appreciate the fact that they are a sovereign State. They should appreciate that they can do their own things without the interference of other parties. I believe that we have already suffered enough as a country and we are in the path of reconciliation and peace and that the warring communities are the ones that are not together in this Government. I believe if the parties themselves have agreed to be together and to work together who else ... view
  • 5 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: Sang is a Kenyan who is wrongly before a court of law that does not respect the Constitution of this country. If we look at our Constitution especially under Article 143(1) the President is protected from criminal liability of prosecution, though we were forced to actually include under sub-article (4) that it should not affect him when it involves international treaties. This was a mistake and the 10th Parliament or any organization that did that did wrong. We should also appreciate the fact that we have got a country that has able institutions like the Judiciary. This issue of Kenyans ... view
  • 2 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me this opportunity to support the Motion. As a lawyer, I believe that it is time we injected new blood into the Attorney-General’s Chambers and more so into the Solicitor-General’s position. We might look at Mr. Muturi as maybe somebody who has been close to the President, but I believe that is the more reason why we should support him; we would want to have somebody who is close to the President so that whatever we want, as a country, will be view
  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to also contribute to this Motion. Coming from an ASAL area, I understand the problems the girl-child faces. view
  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: The nature of our livelihood or the way we live dictates that we should have schools of this nature especially for the girl-child. This is because we migrate from one place to another in search of water and pasture. This has affected a great deal the people living in the ASAL areas. view
  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: For a long time, the girl-child in these communities has been seen as part of the assets of the family especially the father who “sells” her as he wishes when she grows up. I believe that this should not be the case because these are human beings with hearts and feelings. They have a right to live their lives to the full without the intervention from anybody, including the parents. view
  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: If you look at the Constitution, the Children Act and the Penal Code, you will find that they provide for the protection of these children. But unfortunately the people who are supposed to protect them do not implement these laws. You will find that a child who is barely 15 years is married to an old man of 60 years. I believe that these laws and rules should be implemented so that a child can live her life to the fullest. view
  • 12 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, from the outset, I would like to thank you for giving me this opportunity. This is a very important Motion and I would like to thank the Mover thereof. It is a constitutional right for every citizen to access health facilities, treatment and all those things that pertain to it. It is also the constitutional obligation of the Government to ensure that the citizen accesses facilities. However, it is a shame that 50 years on, we are unable to take care of our health facilities or sector because of the negligence of the governments that ... view
  • 12 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: bad. We must ensure that these things complement each other; the health facilities as well as the infrastructure. Many women die on the way before they reach health centers. I would like to take this opportunity to commend the Government for walking the talk by ensuring that what it promised as far as maternity issues are concerned has been put in place. With those few remarks, I beg to support and request my colleagues to do so because it affects all of us. view
