  • 2 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government:- (a) whether he is aware that the road construction on Eastleigh Second Avenue, which was tendered for five years ago, is yet to be completed (b) what steps he has taken against the contractor in view of the shoddy and substandard work on the sections done so far; and, (c) whether he could confirm that the contractor has already been paid and state when the works will be completed. view
  • 2 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the answer which has been given, I believe, is not satisfactory because that particular contractor, in the first place, was given enough time. Five years are enough to finish the contract! Mr. Speaker, Sir, is the Assistant Minister aware that the contractor was blacklisted? How did he find his way back and began getting contracts from the Nairobi City Council? view
  • 2 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Yes, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
  • 2 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is quite a shame, as the Assistant Minister says, to allow a contractor to be on site for five years. I want to ask him whether he is aware that the contractor is on site. The fact is that the contractor has been paid Kshs78 million, yet he has not completed the works. He has not done anything on site! We can go there with the Assistant Minister and he will see what the contractor has done. He will also see the sewerage that he talked about. The sewerage was destroyed by the same 3748 PARLIAMENTARY ... view

  • 26 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government:- (a) whether he is aware that the road construction on Eastleigh 2nd Avenue, which was tendered for five years ago is yet to be completed; (b) what steps he has taken against the contractor, in view of the shoddy and sub- standard work on the section done so far; and, (c) whether he could confirm that the contractor has already been paid and state when the works will be completed. view

  • 12 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to seek a Ministerial Statement from the Minister for Water and Irrigation. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, Eastleigh is a centre of business activity. It is worth to note that all the roads in this area have been turned into sewer rivers. As a result, the roads have become impassable. Could the Minister tell this House what measures he is taking to expand the sewerage infrastructure in this area and how long these taxpayers will suffer as a result of the affluent emanating from these sewers? Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, is the Minister also aware ... view
  • 21 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to ask the Minister if mere interdiction will help solve this problem. We are talking about a lot of money. The Kshs3.2 billion that he talked about and the Kshs2 billion add up to about Kshs5 billion, which was lost in a shoddy company. These people, especially Mr. Atwoli, should be arrested and prosecuted. view
