"content": "Globally, climate change is a key concern. Like other economies, the Kenyan economy is vulnerable to its effects. Over the last 10 years, we have experienced increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather. In order to minimise the adverse effects of this phenomenon on the economy, we need to pursue a green economic development path. In this regard, the National Treasury proposes to tap into the green climate financing by issuing the first Sovereign Green Bond to finance major infrastructure projects in the Financial Year 2020/2021. These proceeds will be directed towards green projects at both the national and county levels."
