    "content": " Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I just wanted to comment on the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA). In my understanding, the formation of this Commission was to place checks and balances on police operations. In the recent past, all of us have seen the excesses of police brutality in this country. During the first instance of the curfew, the police literally brutalised people all over the country. We hope the funds we have allocated to this Commission will be enough to allow them to record and document cases of police brutality so that they are acted upon. If we leave our police force unchecked, they are going to cause untold damage and all the amendments and changes we made through the new constitutional dispensation will be lost. Police are supposed to protect lives and not to brutalise and take lives away. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairperson."
