However, I wish to say that the integrity and the authority of the Senate on the issue of oversight depend on the County Public Accounts and Investments Committee. This Committee is central and key because it not only performs the oversight role of the Senate over the county governments, but is also an authority that derives specifically from the work of the Controller of Budget and the Auditor General. If there are any questions of integrity touching on this particular Committee, then it is a bad apple in a cut of apples. It affects all of us. I hope that in the establishment of this Committee, and the people proposed to serve in this Committee will be conscious of the fact that there is an onerous duty placed upon them to defend and protect the integrity of the Senate."
