Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, the Standing Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights is established under Standing Order No.218(3) of the Senate Standing Orders and is mandated to inter alia- “Consider all matters relating to constitutional affairs, the organization and administration of law and justice, elections, promotion of principles of leadership, ethics, and integrity; agreements, treaties and conventions; and, implementation of the provisions of the Constitution on human rights.” During the period under review, the Committee held 44 sittings during which it considered various legislative proposals, Bills, statements, petitions, and inquiries as set out below-"
