    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.51(1) (b) to make a Statement on the activities of the Standing Committee on Information and Technology for the period commencing 1st January to 31st August, 2020. I have a bulky Report, but I will truncate it and skip to the main issues because we have decided to give specific and detailed report on certain topical issues that have emanated during this review period. During the period under review, our Committee held a total of 23 sittings and considered one Bill and one Statement. At the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, accelerated the adoption and use of technologies had quite an impact on the work of the Committee. This Committee has been a champion for inclusion and transformation through ICT. In the period under review, we canvased a series of issues including- (a) Closing the connectivity gap in Kenya, especially in marginalised and underserved areas; (b) The status of the national broadcaster, the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), which is undergoing certain trouble with sustainability and viability as an organization; (c) ICT and Education, including the Digital Literacy Programme; (d) ICT and Health; (e)ICT and Land;"
