"content": "Madam Deputy Speaker, another arrangement that can be made is to allow the aged teachers and those who have preexisting conditions to stay at home. This is going to be the new norm until we find a vaccine. The more schools remain closed, the more the economic activities that involve schools will be shut down. How many teachers have gone back to their home counties because they cannot pay rent, especially those who are serving in private schools? They are many. Parents can make a decision. If they cannot afford the schools that their children are going to pay, they can take their children to public schools. We also know that there are different levels of private schools. If your children were at an A Grade school, you can take them to wherever you can afford. However, as long as this economy is shut down and schools are not open, the other economic activities will be impacted, and this will have a more harmful impact on the future of the economy of this country. Money circulates around people. The teacher who is paid will buy vegetables from the mama mboga and pay rent to the landlord. That is how the economy improves. We cannot say that schools should remain closed because of this pandemic. Unless a vaccine is found, this pandemic will continue."
