"content": "I will tie this subject to Board of Management (BoM) teachers. The national Government is paying BoM teachers Kshs10,000, and they have not been paid since the pandemic started in March. If we can afford through the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) to pay BoM teachers, how much more can we afford to pay community health workers who are doing a tremendous job that we do not need to reemphasize? Sen. (Dr.) Zani, many governors--- and the work that is being done in the public health is more of brick and mortar. Governors are celebrating big buildings and not the software. The software of our health faculty and function is the community health workers. We will never train enough doctors, like Sen. (Dr.) Mbito and Sen. (Dr.) Ali, who are here with us doing politics. We cannot have enough doctors; our ratios cannot be matched. Even if we train them day and night, we will never match the population increase."
