    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I would like to join my colleagues in applauding the work that has been done by Members of the Ad hoc Committee on the COVID-19 Situation in Kenya. As you remember, when the COVID- 19 situation struck us, there was a lot of uncertainty. We did not even know how to conduct our business as the Senate. The legislative oversight role was an issue because whatever happened, we could not abandon our oversight role. The Ad hoc Committee on COVID-19 became a crucial way of us oversighting the executive on how they were responding to the COVID-19 pandemic as it was unfolding. I would like to thank the Members because they had to learn quickly how to do their meetings online. They did over 90 meetings. They produced their reports while meeting online, managed to do county visits, interact with different sectoral actors in terms of seeing what was going on and how each sector was responding and come up with good reports which were tabled and discussed in this House.
