    "content": "Madam Deputy Speaker, I rise under Standing Order No.48 (1) to seek a Statement from the Committee on Health on the state of affairs at the maternity wing of the Busia County Referral Hospital. In the Statement, the Committee should - (1) Explain the cause of the lack of medical equipment and medicine at the Busia County Referral Hospital, including the hospital’s maternity wing. (2) Explain why expectant mothers are forced to purchase delivery instruments and other personal effects that would ordinarily be provided by the hospital. (3) Explain why patients share beds at the hospital including expectant mothers at the maternity wing. (4) Provide a budget performance report for the 2019/2020 FY to date in relation to procurement or medical equipment, medicines and general supplies at the Busia County Referral Hospital. (5) Elucidate on measures, if any, put in place by the hospital administration and the Busia County Government to address the shortage of equipment, general supplies and medicines at the said Busia County Referral Hospital.
