Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order No. 44(2) (c), I wish to request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock regarding the reorganization and transfers of roles and functions of the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) from the Ministry of Agriculture Livestock and Fisheries to the Ministry of Defence. Hon. Speaker, the KMC was formed in 1950 through an Act of Parliament with an objective of providing a ready market for livestock farmers and providing high quality meat and meat products to consumers.
