"content": "children, even if it means to look after one or two. Imagine if every Senator was looking after five children. That would mean that about 300 children are looked after in this country. My plea is that the country should take the issue of the rights of children very seriously. The things that have occurred, investigated and whose recommendations I support should be condemned. However, we should go further than that and proceed to ensure that children in this country enjoy their rights as enshrined in the Constitution. In fact, the Constitution particularly says that children should not be detained. However, in those very exceptional circumstances where they are detained, they should be held separately from adults, and in conditions that take account of the child’s sex and age. We know that these children were taken to the forest and killed to the extent that seven of them cannot even be accounted for. Perhaps this should go into accounting for those seven who cannot be accounted for. With those few remarks, I once again commend the Committee for this report and recommend that the Committee’s recommendations be implemented. If possible, after six months, we should be told how the County Government of Nakuru and the investigative arms of the Government have implemented this report. Thank you."
