    "content": "Hon. Speaker, I can see my time is up but I want to say that it is also against human rights. It is against the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Convention on the Discrimination against Women, the Convention against Torture Maputo Protocol and the United Nations Declaration on Violence against Women, amongst others. It is also against the Kenyan Constitution, especially if you look at Article 26. Due to lack of time, I would have said more but it is a cultural practice whose time has passed.
