I was very sad when I heard the CS pronounce himself and say that the NHIF will not cover those people who are suffering from COVID-19. We cannot contradict ourselves as a country. We cannot contradict ourselves as a Ministry. On one hand, we are talking about rolling out the universal healthcare and on the other hand, we are saying that we cannot cover this one disease. Probably, the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. COVID-19 is killing our people. COVID-19 is very expensive. It is one of the most expensive diseases for doctors and nurses to treat. On the issue of doctors and nurses, as a medical doctor, I feel very sad that we are losing our frontline workers. I feel very sad that those people who are supposed to help us combat this disease are themselves dying from it. This is because they do not have personal protective equipment (PPEs). As a country, our priorities are completely upside down.
