"content": " Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Any Question asked in this House does not belong to a Member of Parliament. They are Questions of national importance touching on citizenship. Dropping the Question merely because the Member who asked it is not in the House is not fair representation. We must endeavour to expand our democratic space in terms of representation. There are situations where due to circumstances beyond our control, Members of Parliament may not be in the House. One such circumstance is yesterday’s launch of the signatures which most of us attended and could not even attend some Committee meetings. If parliamentary proceedings were on, some of us were not going to attend. Those are equally important national activities. Therefore, we should elevate our Standing Orders to sustain those Questions to their logical conclusions. That is, if Questions are asked and the MPs who tabled them are not in, they should be given the chance to respond to them when they are available in the House. If we did that, we will be doing justice and strengthening the representation of the people through this House. Hon. Deputy Speaker, I think it is fair to sustain these Questions in the best interest of the people."
