"content": "Another thing we need to put focus on is the side effects of these drugs. Someone may use some of these drugs when they are young, and they may not feel the side effects. We know that the active life of an athlete is just above 30 years. While you are still young, you may not experience the side effects of these drugs. However, as you grow older, the side effects may be very devastating. This is not only for athletes, but for sports men and women in general. We have seen footballers, boxers and many other sportsmen and women go down as they get older as a result of some of the drugs that they may have taken knowingly or unknowingly. Mr. Speaker, Sir, we know that the main agenda of the people who support or manage our athletes is to make money or take a cut. They may not be sensitive to the substances that the young people are taking, so long as they achieve the goal of making money. That is their main goal, but not the general wellbeing of the young people. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I support this Bill. Much as it has been done in the late hours, we still have one or two days to go. We need to pass it. I urge other Members of the Senate, who are participating and listening to this debate now, to know that this is an important Bill. We have had an opportunity to go through it. The National Assembly has done what it needed to do. I believe that we had an opportunity individually to look at this important Bill. Let us debate this Bill knowing that our country has very talented people who can do more exploits in athletes and sports in general. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I support. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor, Senate."
