Speaker, I beg to move the following Motion: THAT, this House adopts the Report of the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources on Sessional Paper No.1 of 2020 on the Kenya Wildlife Service Policy laid on the Table of the House on Thursday, 3rd December 2020; and further approves Sessional Paper No.01 of 2020. Sessional Paper No.01 of 2020 on Wildlife Policy, from the Department of Wildlife in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife was laid on the Table of the House by the Leader of the Majority Party on 28th July 2020, and therefore, is still committed to the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources. The wildlife sector is currently being guided by post-independence policy Sessional Paper No.3 of 1975 entitled: “A Statement of the Future of Wildlife Management in Kenya.” The policy set out a strategy for integrated wildlife conservation and management based on participation of both communities and the private sector. The main goal of the policy was to maximize returns from wildlife as a natural resource. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
