Members, records indicate that owing to the weighty nature of the pending work at the time, it was agreed that the balance of the amendments at the end of the Eleventh Parliament, which were substantial in number, be carried forward by the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs and considered by the next Parliament, which is this one. Further, information provided by the Committee also reveals that upon commencement of the current Parliament in 2017, the Committee continued to engage with the IEBC on the Referendum Bill and there is evidence of those engagements taking place as late as March 2019."
