He possessed impeccable passion for public service and indefatigably served not only the people of Garissa County, but this nation, Kenya, whenever he was called upon to do so. The late Sen. Haji had an illustrious career in the wider public service where he held various positions. He began his career as a District Officer (DO) in the 1960s, rising to the position of Provincial Commissioner (PC) from 1970, serving until his exit from the provincial administration in 1997.
