    "content": " Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to speak on this Bill, the Referendum Bill, 2020. I want to start by thanking the Committee for coming up with a very simple Bill, which will end up as the Referendum Law. Referendums happen in many countries. Countries in the West such as France and Australia have done many referendums. Therefore, as a country, we have not done as many referendums as compared to those other countries. Therefore, I think it was important that for us we make a simple law that would allow anybody in this country who is interested in asking Kenyans their opinions on a matter to be able to come up and have it.
