It is disheartening that those elders discharge those important duties without any facilitation by the Government or even acknowledgment of the need to appreciate and motivate those village elders for the services rendered. Despite the great sacrifices the village elders make while providing those services, majority of them are suffering since they do not have alternative sources of income. It is against this background that I seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security on the following: (1) Could the Chairperson provide details on the number of village elders engaged per constituency in the country? (2) Could the Chairperson provide details on the terms of service and the remuneration policy for the village elders in Kenya?
