    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise pursuant to Standing Order 48 (1), to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on National Security, Defence, and Foreign Relations regarding the arrest of Sen. Susan Kihika and others that occurred in Nakuru on 20th February, 2021. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1)Report on the reasons behind the arrest of Sen. Kihika and the other leaders. (2)Explain why the police violated the constitutional rights of assembly and political expression of those arrested. (3)Indicate whether the arresting officers flouted the law by disrupting a lawful meeting. (4)State what action will be taken against them. (5)State what measures have been put in place to ensure that the police and other law enforcement agencies remain politically non-partisan. Mr. Speaker, Sir, this matter was widely reported in the mainstream media."
