I think we all must appreciate that the culture of Tanzania and their political lifestyle enabled the leadership to develop to a level where they were able to have a connection with the masses. That served them extremely well because their cultural, social ethos, economics and politics were able to gel together to produce the leadership they needed at every stage of their life."
