Please, find attached a list of the Members present at the meeting held on 24th March, 2021 and the minutes of the same.” The list referred to in the letter sets out the names of 28 Members of the NASA Coalition of whom 17 Members appended their signatures. Minutes titled “NASA Senators’ Meeting on the Removal of Senate Deputy Minority Leader and Election of a New Senate Deputy Minority Leader Held on 24th March, 2021 at 9.00 a.m. in the Catering - New Extension Wing”, are also attached. The Minutes indicate that 16 Members were present while eight Members were absent with apologies. At Minute 3/24/3/21 titled “Removal of Senate Deputy Minority Leader”, the minutes indicate that “Members resolved to remove Senator Cleophas Malalah as the Deputy Minority Leader”. Minute 4/24/3/21 titled “Election of Senate Deputy Minority Leader” further indicates that “Senator Justice (Rtd) Stewart Madzayo was unanimously elected as the new Senate Deputy Minority Leader”. Hon. Senators, I have also received in my office a letter dated 24th March, 2021, headed “The Matter of Unprocedural and Unilateral Removal of Senator Cleophas Malalah as Deputy Leader of Minority in the Senate by NASA Member Party and Related Matters on House Leadership”. The letter is signed by Chairman, Amani National Congress (ANC), the Acting Secretary- General (SG), Wiper Democratic Movement and the National Organizing Secretary, FORD-K. The letter commences by stating as follows: “An appeal is, hereby, made by the Speaker’s intervention not to confirm and suspend the unprocedural and unilateral removal of Senator Cleophas Malalah (ANC) by Senate Members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party and changes made in the Committees by the same ODM party without consultation with its NASA parties.”"
