    "content": "Various reasons are cited in support of this appeal, including the NASA Coalition pre-election Coalition Agreement, concluding with the appeal “to suspend the purported changes until such a time as the NASA Coalition causes and presents a legitimate list”. Hon. Senators, as you are aware, Part V of the Senate Standing Orders provides for various leadership positions in the Senate. In respect of the Minority Party, Standing Order No.20(1) provides for election of Senators by the Minority Party, to the offices of the Senate Minority Leader, the Senate Deputy Minority Leader, the Senate Minority Whip and the Senate Deputy Minority Whip. Standing Order No.20(4), (5) and (6) provide for the removal from office of a Senator elected to the leadership positions under Standing Order No.20(1). “(4) A Senator elected under paragraph (1) may be removed by a majority of the votes of all Senators belonging to the Minority Party. (5) The removal of a Senator from office under paragraph (3) shall not take effect until a Senator is elected in the manner provided for under paragraph (1). (6) Upon a decision being made by the Minority Party under this Standing Order, the decision of the Party shall be communicated to the Speaker in writing, together with the minutes of the meeting at which the decision was made- The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
