"content": "Last night, I had occasion to support a family which had no food. They told me that the kiosk they make a living out of has been closed. I had an incident of someone who could not raise bus fare of Kshs150 to Zimmerman. The bus fare had been hiked from Kshs50 to Kshs150. When people, including the matatu crew, offered to help him to get home, he asked: “Even if I go home, what will my children feed on?” People had to contribute in a matatu to get that family to get a meal for last night. What of today and tomorrow? We must ensure that we remain sensitive. We must ensure that the Government provides for the people. Last time we provided funds in the budget, but those funds have never reached the people especially funds for social support for vulnerable people living in our slums and the very vulnerable in our society today."
