    "content": "This august House did see the necessity, need and the importance of witness protection in our criminal justice system. That is why they enacted the Act in 2006, an Act which was assented to by His Excellency the President on 31st December, 2006. There have been some reports that we are just enacting this amendment because of the post election violence; I want to emphasize that the Government saw the need to have this legislation in place in 2006, well before the 2007 General Election."
