    "content": "Hon. Deputy Speaker, I just want to speak to Lady Justice Martha Koome. It is now not a matter of how the JSC and the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee settled on her and approved her appointment as the Chief Justice. What counts now is what she will do as the first Lady Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya. Whether she will allow the accolades that have been poured on her illustrious career as a judicial officer to be her guiding light or it is the small spots, be it of erroneous judgements or of the 2017-night ruling that will define her career. I want to ask her to jealously guard the independence of the Judiciary. She must protect judicial officers from the intimidation we have seen from the likes of Hon. Raphael Tuju of the Jubilee Party, who is said to have threatened judicial officers that they may lose their security protocols if they take certain decisions."
