"content": "I have looked at the Budget Estimates, both revenue and expenditure, for the Financial Year 2021/2022. I want to highlight the following: We are aware that we come from the backdrop of a world economy that is shrinking. It has challenges basically because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. In the Financial Year 2020/2021, the world economy contracted at the rate of 3.3 per cent. That was almost going to recession. It is now projected to grow at 6 per cent. Fortunately, Kenya’s economy did not contract. It grew at a very low rate of 0.6 per cent. There are Government projects that we will grow at an average of 6.3 per cent in this Financial Year 2021/2022. If you look at it in terms of numerical terms, you may think that it is a very good growth. It is good because it comes from a very low percentage. So, it will not have a big impact on the economy."
