    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to oppose the amendment to Article 85, the reason being that it is incumbent upon us as Members of Parliament to invest in making our political parties democratic. Why the party leadership can rig in favour of a favourite candidate, or be oppressive, is because we have not institutionalized decision-making in a political party. Let each one of us ensure that their political party makes decisions as an institution, and not in a personalized way. We should know that a country is as good as the political party that forms Government. If we do not grow our parties, we shall never grow democracy in Kenya. I beg to oppose."
