    "content": "This legislation is important for the sugar sector in this country. It is not only a Bill by a private Member but also I was asked to lead it by colleagues from the sugarcane growing areas. His Excellency the President, and the task force that he appointed proposed that there must be reforms, so that we revive the sugar industry in this country. For this reason, this is a very important Bill for the entire country. We are at the time when the sugar industry is on its knees. Many of our public companies have gone under, for instance Mumias Sugar Company, Nzoia Sugar Company, Muhoroni Sugar Company and SONY Sugar Company. If any of those companies has not gone under, it is on its knees. The farmers in this country are not being paid. You are aware of that because you represent them."
