    "content": "Committee notes that KDF has extensively engaged the County Government of Marsabit, the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife through the Kenya Wildlife Service and members of the local community. These engagements led to the downsizing of the land allocated to KDF from 5,000 hectares to 2,500 hectares. The Committee recommended that the Ministry of Defence and the County Government, identify an alternative land for KDF in other areas where the locals are not opposed to KDF presence with proper public participation, and that the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife objects to the acquisition of the part of Marsabit National Reserve by KDF to safeguard wildlife protected area. This is because there is a big area that is not covered by the residents and KDF can be moved to those other areas and then leave the area they are covering for the KWS and the residents of Marsabit."
