    "content": "Adolescence is an equally important period of rapid development and too few of us are paying attention to how our teenagers use technology. A 3 year old child intense and intimate playing with their dad’s iPhone affects him or her. In fact, experts worry that the social media and text messages that have become so integral to teenage life are promoting anxiety and lowering self-esteem. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I, therefore, urge and appeal to Kenyan parents to create awareness among their children, especially among their teenagers to be mindful of social media habits. These include the time spent on social media, how one utilizes the different social media platforms and gauging interactions while utilizing social media platforms. Encourage them to engage with friends and family members physically as social media is not a substitute for real life. I appeal to the youth to use social media to connect with people who inspire them, share similar interests, and provide a sense of belonging. I thank you, Mr. Speaker."
