"content": "The National Assembly on the other hand under Article 229(4) has only three months upon submission of the audit reports to examine them and take appropriate action. Therefore, this means the office is one of the busiest offices you can ever think of in this country, under the Constitution of Kenya. It therefore follows that this office just like any other State agency or entity in the exercise of its mandate also utilises public funds which are appropriated by the National Assembly. Since it cannot audit itself, the framers of the Constitution in their wisdom under Article 226(4) decreed that an external auditor be appointed by this House to audit the accounts of the Office of the Auditor-General."
