"content": "You have to start from somewhere. Where was that land before it became private? It belonged to a community and that community is still alive and is still practicing pastoralism. That is why you will always find those pastoralists there during the dry season. It is because a pastoralist cannot watch his animal die where there is grass across the fence. That is what we are experiencing. The Government needs to treat this in a very holistic manner. The conservationists need to open up their conservancies to the original owners of that land, so that they can graze during the dry season. We do not want to carry the land or occupy it the way they are occupying for nothing. They should allow grazing during the dry season. I am sure that they sometimes allow the communities to graze in Government parks when the drought is biting. When it rains, they retreat and go back to their areas, and the grass in the conservancy area will generate again."
