Thank you very much for your address over the weekend where you challenged Members of Parliament to rise to the occasion and challenge the increase of the cost of fuel in the country. That is very commendable and true to your word, you have allowed this session to continue, so that we can debate on this matter. Thank you very much. The rise of the cost of fuel is as a result of the increased levies which have been imposed on Kenyans. Kenya happens to be the country with the highest taxation rate in the world. If you compare regionally in terms of fuel prices, we have much higher prices than Tanzania and Uganda and yet Kenya - which is still a transit point for fuel to Uganda and Tanzania - still happens to have The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
