"content": " Thank you, Hon. Speaker. On behalf of parents and education stakeholders, who are signatory to this Petition, I draw the attention of the House to the following: THAT, formal education in Kenya was initially comprised of seven years in primary school, four years in secondary school, two years in high school and three years of university education between 1964 and 1985, before being replaced by the 8-4-4 System of Education in a bid to address concerns that the basic education previously provided lacked the necessary content to promote widespread sustainable self-employment; THAT, the Kenyan primary school curriculum was implemented in all public schools and most private schools, with the exception of international schools which typically offer the British or American curriculums, and entailed the study of English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Religious Education, Creative Arts, Physical Education and Life Skills, with pupils taking a national examination at the end of the primary cycle which determined placement in secondary schools;"
